Lakeside Café Opening Day

By Tyler Meyers

Last Friday, the Lakeside Café was opened to the High School’s teachers and administrators for them to purchase lunch prepared by the culinary students. The menu was composed of three sandwiches, all three containing turkey, which made as a superb herald into November and created early anticipation for Thanksgiving. Notably, their “Gobbler Sandwich” incorporates many Thanksgiving classics under one bun, these being the aforementioned turkey, cranberry sauce, and stuffing. Furthermore, they are selling slices of pumpkin roll as well, putting a sweet finish on the end of October.

When asked, both the culinary teachers expressed their excitement for the future of the program. Mr. Spiess stated that he is hoping that students that do not want to attend a secondary education in culinary can take the skills they learned when working in the Café and move directly into the industry. They plan to bring the same menu and energy into next Friday, and hope for future success like that of their first day.
