Veteran’s Day

 By: Briana Błaszczyk

You may have seen the dozens of flags outside of Wallenpaupack Area High School. The reason?  These have been set up to celebrate Veterans Day! The holiday held on November 11th, is a day to honor all those who have served in the United States Army, whether that be during peace or war. Veterans Day Originated from Armistice Day, an international holiday on November 11th that commemorated the end of World War 1. In 1954, Congress passed the bill proclaiming Armistice Day as Veterans Day.

Here at WAHS we have many faculty members who have served in the US military. VIP, Volunteers in Paupack.  have put together a bulletin board near the Auditorium Foyer to honor those faculty members and presented each of them with a gift card! The North Intermediate School will hold an evening Veterans Day program here at the high school on Monday November 11th to celebrate the holiday! Here at the Paupack Press we want to thank all of those who have served in the US Military and wish them a Happy Veterans Day!
