The girls’ basketball squad is breezing by their opponents and now it boasts a 3-0 record. The season began at the Lake, during the annual Lake Region Tip Off Tournament. They were first faced with a young East Stroudsburg North team, where they dominated, and won by a score of 50-24. The following day, the girls played in the championship game against Stroudsburg – an experienced, skilled team. The game was close throughout, with teams exchanging leads. When the 4th quarter rolled around, the game became tighter. Senior guard Ella Smith leads the way, scoring 15 out of the 17 points in the 4th quarter for the Lady Buckhorns. She finished with 38 points in the 44-36 win.

The next task came on Friday, December 6 where Paupack took on the Pocono Mountain West Panthers. The game was a gritty battle that came down to discipline. The Panthers came into the game 0-2 but hungry for a win. PMW had a plan to stop Ella Smith, as she came into the game averaging 32 points per game. Although it did not work, as she boasted another 20-plus point game. The Lady Buckhorns outsmarted and outplayed the Panthers, and added another win, making the girls new record 3-0.

Paupack’s next matchup is home against 1-1 Crestwood, another out of conference game. The girls will look to keep the momentum going as they enter league play in two weeks.
