Girls Basketball Senior Night

By Edward Kiesendahl

On February 10, the girls basketball team took on North Pocono in their final home game of the season. The last home game of the season is traditionally a team’s senior night, and this senior night would celebrate three senior leaders for the Lady Buckhorns. The three seniors would include Paige Haney, Aliese Murphy, and Ella Smith. The pre-game celebration was very well done with the girls’ families escorting them and their academic and athletic accomplishments being read to the crowd. However, they needed to make a quick turn-around from the mix of emotions that senior night brings because a very tough North Pocono was ready to go.

The game began with a back and forth first quarter ending in a 16-13 score in North Pocono’s favor, but the Lady Buckhorns came out in the second quarter ready to take over. Adding fifteen points to their total while holding the Lady Trojans to seven making the score 28-23 heading into halftime.

The tables turned as the second half elapsed. North Pocono couldn’t miss a shot scoring thirty points in the half while playing stout defense and holding Paupack to only twelve points. This made the final score 53-40 making it a disappointing ending to Wallenpaupack’s senior night. Ella Smith still led the team in scoring with fourteen points.
