WAHS Polar Pop

By: Briana Blaszczyk

Beginning on February 18, representatives of Unified Sports dedicated their lunch periods to collecting donations in support of the Special Olympics and Unified Sports programs. This initiative was part of the annual Polar Pop fundraiser, a highly anticipated event where, upon reaching a monetary goal, teachers volunteer to have freezing water balloons pop over their heads in front of a student audience. Originally scheduled for Friday, February 23, the Polar Pop was postponed due to inclement weather and took place on Friday, February 28. Despite the delay, the event proved to be a resounding success. The high school community showed immense support, with a strong turnout and generous donations contributing to the cause. The Paupack Press extends its gratitude to the administrators who volunteered to participate, as well as the Unified Sports students whose hard work and dedication made the event possible. Their efforts not only raised funds for an important cause but also highlighted the power of inclusivity and community spirit at WAHS.
