On March 11, both of Wallenpaupack’s Bocce teams competed in the regional meet at Penn State Schuylkill. Similar to leagues, each team participated in three games. However, this time only one team could advance to states.
For their first match, the White team played against Hamburg. Unfortunately, the White team didn’t have the greatest start. Despite the slow start, they did manage to tighten up the game and ended with a score of 4-5. The Purple team on the other hand went up against Schuylkill Haven. Like the White team, the Purple team also struggled to close the score gap and ended their first game of the night with a loss of 2-6.
Due to the meet’s bracket format, neither team would have the chance to advance to states. However, they still had two more games to play and the ability to change their final standing. For their second game, the White team played Governor Mifflin. Just like their first match, the game was fairly close, especially near its end. However, the White once again lost by one point with a score of 5-6. The Purple team played Daniel Boone for their second game. Luckily, they managed to turn things around this time and win with a final score of 6-4.
For their third and last game of the season, the White team played Daniel Boone. Fortunately, the White team had gained such a strong start that Daniel Boone was unable to catch up. They finished with a 7-3 win. The Purple team played Governor Mifflin for their last game. The Purple team also managed to create a strong lead that the other team could not overcome. They also closed with another win of 8-3. Overall, the White team ended up placing seventh, and the Purple team placed fifth. Despite neither team being able to move on to states, both had a great time, stayed positive, and were proud of what they accomplished.
