Spring Activites

By: Dakota Harkey

Welcome to Spring! Looking for a great way to soak up the sunshine finally peaking through the trees? Here’s a list of some fun activities to make the most out of this spring.

1.     Go On a Nature Walk- If you read the paper last week, I made a list of hikes in Pennsylvania. If a hike is too much for you a simple walk around your community or a nearby park certainly does the trick. It is refreshing to admire the beauty close to home.

2.     Visit a Flea Market/Outdoor Market- I’m a shopaholic and like many of you, love a good discount. Flea markets and outdoor markets are a great way to find cool stuff if you are looking to save some cash. Also, I love some handmade jewelry and candles and I always find the best ones at the markets!

3.     Outdoor Dining- There’s nothing better than a good meal and the shining sun. Personally, the Willowtree Inn Restaurant has a great view!

4.     Spring Festivals- So many musical festivals, food festivals, and film festivals coming up. Personally, I would like to try the Strawberry Festival in Scott Township, or the Peeps Spring Festival in Bucks County.

5.     Go To a Concert- For my music lovers, Spring means outdoor music. Whether it’s local bands and A-List celebs, the atmosphere of an outdoor concert is unmatched.

6.     Visit a Plant Nursery- Learn to stop and smell the flowers at local plant nurseries. I love looking at all the different types of plants and multicolored flowers. I’m terrible at gardening so it’s nice to see the things people can create and the patience and care it takes to grow such beautiful plants.

7.     Horseback Riding- If you are looking for something more adventurous, consider trying horseback riding. There’s plenty of places around the Honesdale area that will let you take a trip on a horse and teach you the basics. Plus, they are quite the humidors animals.

8.     Go to the Zoo- If you like animals, just not controlling them, a zoo is another great option. I love to see all the different species of animals.
