Baseball Back on Track

This past weekend the baseball team put its first win against longtime rival Honesdale. It was a perfect morning for baseball at Wallenpaupack with partly cloudy skies and a summer-like temperature. The game began and it was a slow start through the first couple innings, but the Hornets opened the scoring in the third inning bringing in three runs. The following inning saw the Buckhorns finally getting themselves on the board with a run making the score 3-1 heading into the fifth. Honesdale took the opportunity to extend their lead in the fifth inning adding two more runs to their total, and Paupack was unable to respond with runs of their own, so the score sat at 5-1 heading into the sixth. The sixth inning was a different story from the rest of the ballgame, and the Buckhorns put up five runs with two coming of a Mark Nilsen double.

CJ Doty got the pitching win in relief of starter Logan Caruso while Thomas Kiersted picked up the save.

This game puts the boys at a 1-3 record so far this season, but they have some very tough and competitive league games coming up. Unfortunately, their game Wednesday was postponed (TBA) against West Scranton, but their next game will be away at 4:00 at Scranton High School for their first test in the league against the Knights.
