On Friday, March 28, the Wallenpaupack Area High School student council officers traveled to Lakeland Jr. Sr. High School for the yearly Student Council PASC, Pennsylvania Association of Student Councils, Regional H Conference. Every year, each regional school has an opportunity to host the conference to help students learn new leadership skills, and with as many as thirty schools able to participate in such an exciting experience. In these conferences, the student council officers go to multiple workshops that teach young students new skills on how to be a better leader, communicate better, and be a better student council officer for their school. These officers get an opportunity to run these workshops as well and talk about their experiences of being a part of their own council, and how they improved their school’s community and how they gained a stronger relationship with the student body. The Wallenpaupack officers learned a lot while being there, and plan on using their new skills to help improve the Wallenpaupack school environment.
“I believe it was a good opportunity for people to be able to connect and share ideas and traditions that they experienced,” said Joseph Pettinato, the Wallenpaupack Student Council Vice President. “This can be extremely valuable for bettering our own student council as you can hear new perspectives from up to thirty different schools.”
