Last Wednesday, a group of high school students from Wallenpaupack attended the NEPA Youth Led Leadership Conference at Kalahari for a day as special guests. The conference lasts three days and celebrates youth voice, leadership, and service through student-led projects and interactive workshops. Throughout the day, students broke out into sessions on mental health, civic engagement, career readiness, and networked with other students from different schools. Additionally, they heard from inspiring speakers and participated in hands-on leadership activities. This conference provided a vital role for younger generations to shape their communities as well as address global challenges. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) correspond with the service-learning projects that students take part in, such as promoting quality education, reducing inequalities, and fostering peace and justice. Wallenpaupack students were invited to attend the conference to consider taking part in the YLAB program in the future, but most importantly, to inspire and educate.
