On May 7, Wallenpaupack’s Unified Track and Field team arrived at Lakeland High School to compete against six other teams in their regional meet. Ranked second in their division, they had high hopes of securing a spot at the state championship. However, only the top two teams from the meet would qualify.

Throughout the meet, the team exceeded expectations. Their performances were stronger than anticipated and reflected the team’s dedication. As the final scores were tallied, they found themselves in third place; only two points shy of second. It was a heartbreakingly close finish, leaving them ineligible for automatic qualification.

However, their efforts ended up paying off as all third-place teams from regional meets across the state were entered into a draw for one final spot at the state championship. Wallenpaupack ended up winning and so now they will have the chance to participate in the state meet at Shippensburg University on May 23 and 24. They are excited to take part in the state tournament for a third year in a row and are hoping to succeed.
