After graduation, Nina Duprey will be heading to East Stroudsburg University, where she plans to major in Marine Biology with the goal of becoming an ocean life rescuer. Following her four years of study, she hopes to take a year to focus on working before moving to North Carolina to continue her journey.

Throughout high school, Nina immersed herself in a variety of clubs that helped her grow into the person she is today. She was an active member of FCCLA, Student Council, National Honor Society, Art Club, and also served as a Student Ambassador. These experiences helped shape her character and brought out some of her best qualities.

Nina’s proudest accomplishment is qualifying for FCCLA Nationals two years in a row, but she also takes great pride in a more personal milestone—making the decision in the middle of her junior year to become a better version of herself. According to Nina, she’s not the same person she was before that turning point, and she’s proud of the growth she’s achieved.

As she prepares to move on, Nina says she’ll miss the friendly faces and positive interactions she had with teachers, counselors, and administrators. That welcoming environment is one of the main reasons she chose ESU—it reminded her of the community spirit that Wallenpaupack is known for.

Among the many supportive educators in her life, Nina says Mrs. Hessling made the biggest impact. “She wasn’t always just there for me academically but also personally as well,” Nina says. “That’s a very important quality to have as a teacher because it goes to show just how much you care.”
