As the spring season winds to a close the track and field State Championship meet is set for this weekend. Our boys’ track team will be sending a good crew to compete in the meet this year to accompany Coach McHugh. The first member of the team heading to Shippensburg University is high jumper Nick VanBuskirk. Nick earned first place in the high jump at the district championship meet with a jump of six feet one inch.

The next member is Ryan Vargo who threw 162 feet in the discus to propel himself to the number one spot in the district, and he is currently the best sophomore discus thrower in the state of Pennsylvania. This gives Ryan an excellent shot of placing himself near the top at the state meet.

Finally, the 4×400 team will be competing as well. This isn’t your normal 4×400 team since they have a rotation of six sprinters that work their way into the race, and they have earned themselves the nickname the “6×400 team” from Coach McHugh. They are not only able to be very competitive at the state meet, but they also have a high chance to break the school record for the event.

Overall, it will be a very competitive and exciting meet for the Buckhorns with a lot of opportunities to make noise against the best track stars the state has to offer.
