On Tuesday, May 20th, Wallenpaupack’s Unified Track and Field team faced off against Valley View in their League competition. During their last regular meet of the season, Valley View had defeated Wallenpaupack by a large point gap, taking first. Determined by their previous loss, Wallenpaupack was hoping to earn their gold medal this time around.
Ultimately, they were able to achieve just that. After various broken PRs and overall success, Wallenpaupack ended with 108 points to Valley View’s 101.The meet remained close throughout and left both teams proud of the outcome.
While the team had not originally qualified for the State competition, they were selected for the wild card pick, which gave them a chance to compete at the State meet. This spot, chosen among the third-place teams in regional meets across the state, secured their place. The team will be attending for their third year in a row May 23rd and 24th at Shippensburg University. Their recent League win left them with great hopes of what is to come.
