The Wallenpaupack Area High School Players are bringing a hauntingly imaginative production to the stage this fall with Nevermore, a chilling exploration of the mysterious final days of Edgar Allan Poe. The show runs Thursday, November 6 through Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on November 9 at 2:00 p.m. All performances will be held in the Black Box theater at Wallenpaupack Area High School.
Appropriate for middle school audiences and older, Nevermore promises an eerie yet captivating experience. While the play contains a few dark moments, it is not overly frightening—though one scene does make use of fake blood to heighten the drama.
The story follows Poe as he grapples with his own imagination, coming face to face with many of the iconic characters he created. As he spirals through the haunting visions of his writings and the memories of his long-lost love, the audience is taken on a suspenseful journey that blurs the line between fiction and reality.
Although Nevermore is a fictional take on Poe’s last days, the production pays deep respect to his legacy. It highlights the writer’s brilliance, creativity, and influence, showcasing the rich literary world that continues to inspire readers and writers alike.
Nearly 50 students from grades 10 through 12 make up the dedicated cast and crew, working together to bring this eerie and emotional story to life. Their hard work and talent promise an unforgettable performance for the community.
Tickets for Nevermore will be sold at the door, and seating is limited—so theatergoers are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot. Don’t miss the chance to experience this haunting tribute to one of America’s most legendary authors.
