The winter sports season is officially underway, and our girls’ basketball team has opened with a strong start. Their first game on Friday, November 28, kicked off the annual Tip-Off Tournament. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams faced East Stroudsburg North and came away with decisive wins, with JV earning a victory 40–9 and varsity winning 53–9. Because of their success in the opening round, the girls advanced to play the Stroudsburg Mountaineers the following day. Although this matchup proved more challenging, the outcome was the same: the teams dominated, with JV winning 50–14 and varsity securing a 52–32 victory. Their effort, energy, and unity on the court carried them to a well-deserved tournament championship. Lily Mancino, Ashley Vanderputten, and Laura Posdon were recognized for their outstanding performances. Congratulations to these three athletes—and to the entire team—for their achievements.
More recently, on Wednesday, December 3, our girls faced much tougher competition against Western Wayne. They came in assuming the game would be easier after their tournament success, only to find themselves in a tough fight. Both games were back-and-forth battles, yet after a hard-fought effort, both teams came away with close victories—JV winning 34–32 and varsity coming out with a 24–21 win.
