This past Saturday, Volunteers in Paupack was asked to help solicit donations for the Salvation Army. Dressed in warm clothes, Bethany Day and Kiana Madrigal stood at the IGA supermarket in Hawley for two hours ringing Christmas bells and greeting incoming customers. After their two hours were up, new volunteers took their place. After seven hours, they managed to raise $762! All donations are going towards holiday gifts for people in need in the area. This was all made possible with the help of the Hawley Rotary. Their involvement began ten years ago, supporting major seasonal fund-raising activities of their local Salvation Army chapter, which provides staff and resources. The Hawley Rotary is part of Rotary International, which is the world’s largest service organization with 1.2 million members. Their mission is to support local community’s basic human and wellness needs such as food, housing, and health.
