Jewel’s Resolutions

By: Jewel Dickerman

As the new year begins, many people are looking for ways to better themselves and start fresh. It’s that time of year when everyone reflects on the past and sets goals for the future. This year, I’ve noticed that a lot of my friends and family are focusing on becoming more mindful, responsible, and balanced in their lives.

One of the biggest goals people seem to have this year is learning how to save money. With prices constantly going up and life getting busier, many are realizing the importance of budgeting and spending wisely. They’re planning to cut back on unnecessary purchases and start saving things that really matter.

Another big focus is learning how to stay calm throughout the year. Life can get stressful—whether it’s school, work, or personal challenges—and people want to handle it better. Many are trying to be more patient, take breaks when needed, and find peace in the middle of the chaos.

Staying physically healthy is also at the top of a lot of people’s lists. From hitting the gym to eating better, everyone seems to want to feel stronger and more energized. It’s not just about looking fit—it’s about feeling good and taking care of their bodies.

But beyond money, calmness, and fitness, there’s one resolution that truly stands out: the desire to be a better person overall. People want to be kinder, more understanding, and more helpful to those around them. It’s about self-improvement in every sense—mentally, emotionally, and socially.

The new year always brings a sense of motivation, but what really makes it meaningful is the effort people put into becoming their best selves. Watching friends and family work toward these goals is inspiring, and it shows that every new year is a chance to grow—not just as individuals, but as a community.
