Wallenpaupack Students Shine in 2026 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Wallenpaupack Area High School once again proved that creativity and talent thrive within its halls. In this year’s 2026 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, Paupack students made a remarkable impression among 21 participating schools from across the region.

Out of 133 artworks selected for regional recognition, an incredible 28 pieces were created by Wallenpaupack Area students—a true testament to the dedication, imagination, and artistic skill found throughout the district’s art program.

These outstanding results highlight not only the talent of the students but also the guidance and encouragement provided by the school’s art educators, who continue to foster a supportive environment for young artists to grow and express themselves.

The Paupack Press congratulates all of the students whose work was recognized in this prestigious competition. Their achievements reflect the creativity and spirit that make Wallenpaupack a standout in the arts community.

This year’s award recipients include: American Visions Award – Kody Hanor, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill). Gold Key Awards – Kody Hanor, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); Amelia Porcelli, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); Jaslene Toro, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); and Julianna Williams, Drawing (Teacher: Ms. Peet). Silver Key Awards – Jake Callanan, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); Jonathan Fluhr, Painting (Teacher: Ms. Peet); Nicholas Graham, Drawing (Teacher: Ms. Peet); Ava Jensen, Drawing (Teacher: Ms. Peet); Kaylana Mejias, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); and Kaz Shick, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill). Honorable Mentions – Owen Edwards, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); Jonathan Fluhr, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); (x5) Nicholas Graham, Drawing/Painting (Teacher: Ms. Peet); Kody Hanor, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); (x2) Ava Jensen, Painting (Teacher: Ms. Peet); Anthony Lin, Drawing (Teacher: Ms. Peet); (x2) Liana Lucchese, Painting/Drawing (Teacher: Ms. Peet); Liana Lucchese, Printmaking (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); Kaylana Mejias, Ceramics (Teacher: Mr. Hamill); and Leigha Smith, Sculpture (Teacher: Ms. Peet).

The continued success of these students showcases the dedication of both the artists and their teachers, Mr. Hamill and Ms. Peet, whose encouragement and expertise have helped shape a strong and thriving arts community at Wallenpaupack Area High School.
