An Easter Tradition: Dyeing Eggs

By: Edward Kiesendahl

As Easter approaches, many families look forward to one of the holiday’s most colorful traditions: dyeing eggs. It’s a simple activity that only requires a few household items and a little creativity.

To get started, you will need hard-boiled eggs, food coloring or egg dye tablets, white vinegar, cups or small bowls, water, and spoons. Paper towels and an egg carton are also helpful for drying the eggs afterward.

First, fill each cup with about half a cup of warm water. Add a teaspoon of vinegar and several drops of food coloring. Next, carefully place a hard-boiled egg into the cup using a spoon. Let the egg sit for a few minutes until it reaches the color you like. The longer it stays in the dye, the darker the color will be. After removing the egg, place it in an egg carton or on paper towels to dry. Once finished, you can add stickers, draw designs, or mix colors to make your eggs even more unique.

Dyeing Easter eggs is a fun and creative way to celebrate the holiday with friends and family while adding a splash of color to the season.
