Career Day at North Intermediate

Every child has been asked at least once, “what do you want to be when you are older?” A majority of them would answer with their earnest heart, but some kids would be stuck, since they do not know what they want to spend their future doing. So, to help kids see what their future holds, Wallenpaupack hosted a career day for the fifth graders at the North Intermediate school on Friday, March 20. Career day is an event that gives adults and high school students a chance to explain their passion and career path. Two of our CTE programs, Engineering and Allied Health, got the opportunity to participate in the event, and show the students what they can do in the future in their fields.

The engineering students brought their own creations over to the school, such as the robot dog and arm that the program had and showed them how they built the projects. The CTE also showcased and described all the fields in engineering to the children. The students explained what they have gone through the past four years in the program, and the seniors, Salvatore Amitrano and Alexander Rosenburg, spoke about what the program did for them and what they wanted to do in the future.

Allied Health had a comparable situation in their classroom. The high schoolers let the children use the health care supplies and explained how to use said supplies. They also explained what they would have to encounter if they chose to go into the medical field. “I think the kids really enjoyed the event.” Sam Uravitch, a senior in the Allied Health CTE, said. “They seemed really excited to see all the stuff and being able to touch the items.”

We hope that with the children getting to see what their future holds, they can find the answers about what they want to do as a career.
