Grace Lake was a standout on offense this game, hitting two home runs for the team. Gabrielle Hieber was also a standout, collecting three hits for the team including a homerun. On Tuesday, March 31, the varsity team was back at it again this time against Scranton at home. Paupack dominated during this game by a score of 14-0. Paupack came out strong in the 1st inning and scored three runs and continued their strong offense for the duration of the game. Paupack also shined on defense, only committing one error. As for the JV’s, the team has shined so far in their two games against West Scranton and Scranton. First, on Friday, March 27, they faced West Scranton and dominated, winning by a score of 15-1. Paupack collected 24 hits and held West Scranton just four. This was due to their strong defense, committing no errors, and Anna Babyak pitching and collecting 11 strikeouts. Anna Babyak, Jenna Petroski, and Macy Story all collected three hits for the team.
Next, on Tuesday March 31, the team played Scranton and shut them out, winning by a score of 16-0. This game was only three innings because Scranton did not have a large enough JV team for both Varsity and JV games. The three innings proved to be plenty for the team as they collected nine hits and held Scranton to 0. Paupack’s defense shined in this game, and they committed no errors. Anna Babyak gave a strong pitching performance striking out five hitters and walking none. Right after her, Grace Sterner pitched and shined striking out two and also walking none. JV has had a strong start to their season, and they are hoping to continue their winning streak into their next few games.
