On March 13- 15, Mrs. Elders Future Health Professionals (HOSA)program went to Lancaster, PA, for the 45thanniversary of State Leadership Conference (SLC). There were 25 competitors from Wallenpaupack Area who participated in this event, along with two delegates. The students completed multiple categories that included, Veterinary Science, Forensic Science, Public Service Announcement, Medical Spelling, Mental Health Awareness, Pharmacy Science, Human Growth and Development, Dental Terminology, Public Health, Medical Innovation, Pathophysiology, Job Seeking Skills, Nutrition, Behavioral Health, First Aid, and Medical Terminology. The students also got to participate in educational symposiums, grand sessions, keynote speaker presentations, bingo bash, dance parties, and networking with almost 1800 future healthcare leaders.
Paupack HOSA had five students place in the top three in the competition. Caitlyn Mulcahy placed first in Veterinary Science, Kelly Hotaling also placed first in Job Seeking Skills, and with the team of Ciara Dennis, Isabella Coyle, and Carmella Coyle placed third in Public Health. These five students will be heading to Houston, Texas in June to participate in the International Leadership Conference to compete with other students across the globe!
