Louis Gilson, a senior at Wallenpaupack Area High School, is known for his unwavering loyalty and genuine nature. He actively takes part in a few school activities including the Unified Club, Unified Bocce, and intends on joining Unified Track this year when it begins.
Between his two current activities, Louis enjoys both equally for distinct reasons. In the Unified Club, he specifically enjoys planning events for the school and being a part of Wallenpaupack’s community. This year, he joined Unified Bocce on a friend’s recommendation and believes many of his best memories stem from his times in it. The sport, which is not as physically demanding as others, but it requires some intense strategy, has provided him with a relaxing yet competitive outlet.
Despite many fond memories Louis’ favorites from high school include lunchtime with friends, especially the moments shared with previous seniors, and his time in Unified Bocce. Since his team in Unified Bocce achieved first in leagues, Louis is excited to attend regionals and hopes to advance to states.
Academically, Louis is passionate about mechanics. He plans to attend Hiram G. Andrews Center to specialize in all aspects of this field, with a precise vision of becoming a skilled mechanic at an automotive dealership. He envisions a future where he has a successful career and is eventually able to buy a home of his own.
Louis considers his number one achievement to be simply showing up and being present. In ninth grade, he missed numerous days of school, but he has since made a conscious effort to be present, show up, and be the best version of himself. This perseverance has become something he takes pride in, and he considers this change to be his biggest accomplishment during his high school career.
As he prepares for graduation and his future, Louis hopes to leave a lasting impression on others as a good-hearted and genuine person that is always willing to help his friends and be there for anyone in need.
