In December, Austin Earl won first place at the in-house Skills USA. competition for the automotive event! Austin then
went to districts in January and won first place out of eleven schools! Austin Earl is a senior here at Wallenpaupack and he has been with the automotive team since his freshman year. He discovered his passion for cars when he was young and when he discovered that Wallenpaupack had an opportunity to work in the shop, he took it. He worked in the shop throughout his high school years and did his best in school. Austin qualified for many contests this year.
To qualify for these contests, Doc Watson gave a test to his class. Doc Watson then used the exam score to discover who would represent Wallenpaupack at these contests. For the Skills USA competition, Doc would let the students do a hands-on portion also.
For the Northampton contest, Austin took a written test and then qualified for the top six of all the other schools along with his partner, Lucas McConnell. The Northampton competition takes place in March. Austin plans on going to college for two years and then come back to join the work force, and then he may open his own shop. We hope you have the best future Austin!
