Science Olympiad is an academic competition club that consists of 23 different events in science and engineering. Each student gets to participate in an event of their choice and he or she can participate alone but most choose to work with one or two partners. The events cover a variety of the sciences such as earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and building activities. Some examples are programming a robot, building a tower or plane, or presenting chemistry labs. Science Olympiad is a great opportunity to learn and be part of a team, and it is open for anyone to join! I interviewed Mr. Neenan, one of five faculty advisors of Science Olympiad, to hear what he has to say about the club. “My favorite part of Science Olympiad is seeing students explore topics they never learned in science class.”
Certain events deal with topics that our school’s science classes barely broach such as forensics, so it is a great opportunity for students to widen their knowledge base. Science Olympiad is
looking for new members from any grade level. The club meets every Tuesday and Wednesday after school in Mr. Neenan’s room, 231. If you are interested, you can simply attend a meeting
