On Thursday, January 11, FBLA went to the Scranton University for a Regional Leadership Conference. FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. It is the largest Career and technical student organization in the world with more than 230,000 members!
The members of FBLA pick an event in which to compete and must make a presentation based on the prompt they are given. When they are finished with the presentation, the participants present to a panel of judges. If they win, or get a good spot, the students will be able to advance from the regional competition to states and then to nationals.
I interviewed Ben Scholl, the Vice President of FBLA at Wallenpaupack, and asked him how FBLA works. “FBLA has many levels of leadership,” he stated, “with there being four main ones. The starting is the school chapter level, from there you have regional then states then nationals. Every level is comprised of a group of elected students and teachers who help, along with FBLA staff at the state and national level.”
Wallenpaupack has an amazing chapter of leaders in FBLA. We have co- advisors, Mr. Monte and Mr. Winagle, along with a student leadership team, that includes President Evan Peppiatt, Vice President Ben Scholl, and Secretary/Social Media Director Darby Brennan. We wish the best of luck to FBLA and their future work!
