On Saturday, October 4, the Wallenpaupack Aeronautical Science and Aviation program (WASA) held a fundraiser at Cherry Ridge Airport to support the next generation of the aviation industry. The event, Roadsters and Runways, held a car show, airplane show, vendors, and a 50/50 raffle. Sponsored by the Pharaohs Car Club, 170 cars were displayed, increasing the numbers of attendees and boosting donations towards WASA. Additionally, the Young Eagles Chapter hosted flights for kids 17 and less for free in which they flew around Honesdale for 15 minutes. After, the instructor pilots signed the kid’s logbooks, helping them achieve more hours to earn their private pilot’s license. WASA sold sweatshirts, shirts, and hats to raise money and inform people about the program. Volunteers sold merchandise at the tent, directed traffic, and helped with the advertisement. The event was featured on WNEP 16 news.
