This week at the Paupack Press, we will be recognizing our sophomore class officers and advisors.
Greg Nalesnik is the class president. He wanted to become an officer to make a positive difference within Wallenpaupack so students can say “school is fun” once again. Greg has loved being a part of the student council since fifth grade and wanted to expand that by being a class officer. He wants to be somebody that students could talk to and see something get accomplished.
“As a 2028 class president for the past three years, I have had such a wonderful time. We have had so many great ideas and have made such an enormous difference in school. From planning school dances in eighth grade to recently launching our class fundraiser, I have had the honor to work with an amazing leadership team. I cannot be proud of how much we have achieved in such a short term. Without our class officers or advisors, school would feel so boring and mundane. In the future, I can imagine the class of 2028 becoming a close-knit group of classmates bonding and making connections through our efforts and ideas.”
Emory Dawe is the class vice president. Becoming an officer was important to her because she cares to make a difference in our school. Her role as vice president allows her to improve our school community, support her classmates, and be a part of important decisions. She also wants to grow as a leader by working with others to make Wallenpaupack a better place for everyone.
“My time as the 2028 class vice president has been an amazing experience. Together, our team has produced tons of great ideas to make our school better and bring our class closer as a community. We have worked hard to make progress, and in the future, we hope to get even more students involved and have organized a successful fundraiser. I am proud of how far we have come and excited for what is ahead!”
Ava Hoffman is the class secretary. She wanted to have a say in events and other activities within her grade, so she became an officer. She loves socializing with her peers and bringing their opinions to life is something she wants to accomplish.
“As the 2028 class secretary, I hope to get our class more involved with activities in our community and school. Our team works so well together, and throughout the process of planning events, we work as a team. I’m so excited to see what this year has in store for our class.”
Reagan Anderson is the class treasurer. She wanted to be elected to student council to have a voice in the school. She has a lot of fun making decisions for our school and gives her classmates opportunities to share their opinions.
“As the class of 2028 treasurer, my fellow classmates and I have come up with fundraiser ideas, class bonding ideas, and more. I couldn’t do anything without my classmates or advisors there to bounce ideas off of. In the future I would like to see the class of 28’ become very close through the bonding ideas that student council have come up with.”
Ms Rosencrance is a class co-advisor. Before being a class-advisor, Ms. Rosencrance was the WAHS (Wallenpaupack Area High School) student council advisor. Now she is excited to serve students in a different way. She loves working with students and watching them grow as leaders and collaborators as they brought their ideas to life. It is one of her highlights of her professional career.
“Transitioning into the role of Class Advisor has presented an awesome opportunity to connect in a new way. I’ve always enjoyed working with students to build a sense of belonging and school spirit. Now, I get to support those same values through a different lens. We have an AMAZING Student Leadership Team and a TERRIFIC group of Sophomore volunteers. Our team is inclusive, insightful, and enthusiastic! Whether they’re running the concession stand, delivering fundraising materials, inviting peers to participate in spirit events, or brainstorming ideas for future activities, they’re committed to planning meaningful and memorable experiences for their classmates. Look-out Florida – Fall 2027!”
Mrs. Monte is the other class co-advisor. When she first came to Wallenpaupack, she applied to be the class advisor a couple of times but was never chosen. Fortunately, in the spring of 2024, there were two openings, and she got in along with Ms. Rosencrance! Mrs. Monte believes it’s so amazing to work with a class from the moment they come into high school to when they walk across the stage at graduation. They get to know the students, plan memorable events, and witness such growth over their time at Wallenpaupack.
“Last year was a blast – we had great participation during spirit games, had a successful fundraiser, and hosted a very fun Class of 2028 Mixer at Dave & Busters. Running the concession stand last year and this year was an awesome success with such teamwork from the Class of 2028 volunteers. We have currently kicked off our second fundraiser and are planning another fun mixer at a nearby waterpark and late May 2026. Our class of 2028 Student Leadership Team is a cohesive group of officers who really work well together, this year and want to create lasting memories for the class!”
