Seven gifted students from ninth through eleventh grade traveled to Bloomsburg University to participate in their annual math competition. They competed against other schools such as Danville, Berwick, and Montoursville. The competition consisted of two sessions, a morning session, and an afternoon session. The morning session involved two parts. In the main ballroom, the teams solved brain teaser questions. They were called to compete in the Quiz Bowl competition, which had the teams participating in a nine-question fight to see who could answer more questions correctly and faster.

After the morning session ended, the teams ate lunch in Bloomsburg’s expansive dining hall. After, the teams came back for the fast-paced game, 24. 24 involves using normal playing cards and putting four down at a time. You then must either add, subtract, multiply, or divide the numbers to get 24. Both teams won in the first round but lost in the second round when the number was switched to 20. Overall, this event really challenged the students’ brains and was an incredibly fun event.
