The northeast corner of our country was rapidly alerted of potential for severe weather last weekend. This wide-ranging storm was making its way up the east coast in the form of a blizzard. Areas from the central Appalachians to Maine were under varying degrees of weather alerts. Areas in Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey were under blizzard warnings with anywhere from 8-40 inches of snow predicted. Other coastal areas like Ocean City, MD, and Montauk, NY, were under flood warnings. Areas along I-95, north of Washington D.C., were under travel bans due to the forecasted snow and wind gusts up to 70 mph. Certain areas got much less snow than predicted, but it still hasn’t stopped snowing in areas like Long Island. The National Weather Service warned anyone expecting weather to stay inside and stay safe over the snowy weekend. Locally we were, for the most part, spared from the excessive snow and the high winds.
