From February 5 – 7, 15 of our choir students attended the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 9 Choir Festival at Tunkhannock Area High School. At this festival, all students auditioned for the regional festival upcoming where 11 students are moving on, Genevieve Neenan, Nora Warner, Nathan Freethy, Hunter Sasala, Kristian Nistad, Samuel Sherman, Samantha Treppeda, Ivy Yetter, Brayden Hoffmann, Gabriel Racine, and Giovanni Patire. All students who attended had the opportunity to work with Wilkes University’s choir director Dr. Joshua Harper. Within the three days, the students were instructed on how to sing the repertoire they were provided, as well as new warm-ups and vocal techniques. In their repertoire there were six pieces from Ave Regina Caelorum by Isabella Leonardo to The Gift to Sing by Timothy Michael Powell. Mrs. Neenan, our choir director, told me she was very proud of the results of the concert and the audition results. Congratulations to all who participated!
