The Buckhorn Cross Country team finished their overall season on Saturday, November 1, as the top eight boys and girls from the varsity team took part in the state championship held at Hershey Park. The team left early on Friday, October 31, to travel to the course and get ready for Saturday. The runners viewed the course and ran it for practice. Afterward, the group went to a team pasta dinner, where they bonded together before the big race. The group did many different activities throughout the night and had much needed fun after the great season they had together.

On Saturday, the girls raced first at 10:15 am, where the wind was not harsh and the sun was shining. The course was still wet from the week before, but it was in good condition to where it would not affect them. The girls had one goal for the race, and it was to beat Valley View, who beat them by two points at Districts on the previous Wednesday. The ladies worked hard and achieved their goal by a landslide. However, the ladies did more then beat Valley View; out of 21 teams, the girls placed 14th. It was a huge achievement, considering this is the first time that the girls went to States as a team.

The boys raced at 1:15 pm, with their race being the last race of the day. The wind became harsh during their race, and the course was in rough condition after the impact it received from earlier runners, but the boys were ready. The guys got out hard and put in the work. The guys placed 21st, but they were happy to be at States together as a team.

The Cross Country team had an amazing season, with the boys finishing as Triple AAA champions from Districts, and the girls having an overall score of 20 and 3.
