On Wednesday, November 5, seven juniors and seniors from our gifted program traveled to Honesdale to compete in the Next Level Leaders competition. They competed with surrounding school districts which included Mid Valley and Wayne Highlands. Teams from each school visited seven different venues around Honesdale including Wayne Bank, Wayne County Historical Society, and the Dime Bank. They also talked to Wayne County Commissioners James Shook and Brian Smith.
The goal of the event was to get students ready for adulthood. Each individual challenge they accepted had its own effect on what they could come across in a work setting. These topics included teamwork, communication, financial literacy, and critical thinking. While Mid Valley School District won the competition, the team did very well. Overall, the group learned a lot about how to manage real world situations and got advice from people in their respective fields.
