The Lady Buckhorns have had a full schedule. Starting the year strong, they traveled to West Scranton High School on Friday, January 2, to play the Invaders. The JV team had almost no time to warm up, yet they brought strong intensity right from the start. With that energy continuing throughout the game, they secured a huge win, 42-20. Similarly, the varsity team stayed ahead for most of the game; however, they had to fight hard for the victory. At times it was close, but they pulled through and came out on top by a final score of 58–48.
Their next game was against the Delaware Valley Warriors on Thursday, January 8. The JV team knew they could win, and after being down at halftime, they decided to turn things around. By the end of the fourth quarter, they were up 35–28. The varsity team also had to battle back after being down at halftime and managed to do so. Fiona Shanaberger tied the game with a foul shot, sending it into overtime. DV came out with more fire than ever during overtime, but our varsity players struggled to match it. They played hard but ultimately ended in a loss of 36–44.
Originally scheduled for Tuesday, the Lady Bucks played Valley View on Saturday, January 10. Both the JV and varsity teams knew they had to come out strong against the Cougars, but they were missing several players, including key contributors, for various reasons. As a result, the JV team lost 37-22, and the varsity team fell 59-35. It was a tough loss for both teams, but they must not let it affect them negatively, as they are set to travel to Scranton on Monday.
