Our Lady Buckhorns played against the Scranton Prep Cavaliers on Monday, January 19, which was their last game in the first half of league play. Our JV team came out very strong, determined to stay in the game. In a close matchup, the Cavaliers managed to stay on top throughout, resulting in a 39-31 loss for our girls; however, they put up a great fight.
As for the varsity team, they were still lacking the fire everyone knows they had and did not come out as ready as they could have. Unfortunately, it was a tough loss, ending with a score of 57-21.
Shifting gears, on Friday, January 23, Abington Heights traveled to our home court. Abington adjusted their lineup in an attempt to defeat the JV team. Luckily for us, it was no match—our girls led for most of the game and once again secured a win against Abington, 36–27. Our varsity girls were determined to show the Comets who they really were, and they did just that. They put up a strong fight and led at halftime, but after losing momentum, they fell behind by ten, ending by a score of 38–28. Regardless of the scores, both teams showed improvement, and with the game cycle reset, that progress is what truly matters.
