The world will never learn if there is not someone there to share the knowledge. Owen Edwards, a senior at Wallenpaupack Area High School, has been a part of the school district since he was born. Owen is known for his fun and creative personality, which helps him during childcare. Owen joined the local history club during his senior year, a club that he finds very enjoyable. Outside of school, Owen collects vintage toys and collectibles, along with making art and crafts for childcare.
Owen has wanted to be an elementary school teacher since he was a child. During his freshman year, he decided to join the childcare CTE program to gain more experience in the field. “I really like working with kids,” Owen stated, and with most of his family being teachers, he got to experience and watch the career firsthand. His favorite part of childcare was creating the lesson plans for the children, “It is important for kids when they are learning.”
Owen is committed to East Stroudsburg University, where he earned to major in Early Childcare Education. He plans to achieve his four-year degree, and plans on teaching pre-k to the fourth grade, but specifically kindergarten or first grade. He also stated that he “would like to have a job at Wallenpaupack when he graduates,” so he can still live near the lake.
Owen has many favorite memories of Wallenpaupack, but specifically childcare. He mentions how he started to become extremely close with his classmates due to the class. Owen also mentions that Mrs. Geisheimer, the childcare teacher, is “one of the best teachers I ever had.”
Another favorite memory of his was his ceramics class, where he gets to work with clay and be more creative. Owen has many teachers to thank, but specifically a few.
He would like to thank Mrs. Geisheimer and Mrs. Rowe for helping him throughout the years with childcare. Owen would like to thank all his friends in childcare, for making the class even more enjoyable. We wish Owen the best of luck with his future teachings, and hope to see him back at Wallenpaupack, not as a student, but as a teacher.
