Camron Ortiz, a senior at Wallenpaupack, has spent much of his high school career pursuing his passion for aviation. Through the school’s aviation program, he discovered a path he hopes will shape his future. After graduation, Camron plans to attend Marywood University to pursue a degree in aviation. Eventually, he hopes his career will take him somewhere warm, such as California or Puerto Rico, where he dreams of becoming an airline captain.
Throughout high school, Camron says his biggest inspiration has been his aviation teacher, Mr. Greenberger. According to Camron, Greenberger helped guide him toward his goals and encouraged him to grow from his mistakes. He says Greenberger always “guided me into achieving my dreams and helped me stay on track. He let me see my errors and let me grow while always being there for me.”
Having a supportive and motivating teacher clearly played an important role in Camron’s journey through high school.
While Camron values the lessons he learned in the classroom, some of his favorite memories come from his early high school years. His favorite memory is his freshman year science class, but looking back, his advice to younger students would be simple: don’t ditch your friends just to hang out with your girlfriend. Camron says he is incredibly grateful for the friendships he formed throughout high school and believes they shaped the person he has become. “All the gas station walks, sneaking out at night, and hanging out are memories I will never forget; they taught me not everything is as bad as it seems, and life is what you make it.”
When thinking about how he would like to be remembered, Camron hopes people will see him as someone who was kind to everyone, or at least someone who tried to be. Many of his classmates would likely say he has already achieved that goal, and it will hopefully remain part of his legacy at Wallenpaupack.
We wish Camron the best of luck in his sunny future.
