The inaugural season of Wallenpaupack Girls Lacrosse is underway, and despite the scoreboard not being in their favor, the team has made great strides. Led by Coach McCormack and Coach Colleen, the team saw their first action on Monday in a scrimmage against Wilkes-Barre. Despite the scoreboard not going in their favor, with a final of 18-5, the girls did not give up and played a full 48 minutes. The team was led by Kaylee Newcomer and Ava Hoffmann, with three goals and two goals, respectively. Despite it being half of the team’s first time seeing a full-sized field, the team competed with a strong Wilkes Barre team.
The team then played their first league game on Tuesday against Hazleton, and despite the result being nearly the same with a final of 18-3, the girls kept pushing through, with goals from Ivy Frangos, Nani Harms, and Ava Hoffmann. The girls also competed in a 10-minute JV game, which was a tough battled game, but ended in a 3-1 loss, with a goal from Emma Waszczak. The girls will play today at Crestwood at 5:30. Wish the girls luck as they play their second league game of the season.
