Wallenpaupack Varsity Field Hockey recently held its Youth Night under the lights in celebration of “The Pack.” Young field hockey players had the opportunity to walk onto the field, meet their varsity players, and stand alongside them as the national anthem played.
The young athletes then got to watch the varsity girls compete against Honesdale, their rivals. By halftime, however, it was their time to shine. A few lucky participants had the opportunity to take part in fun activities, including raffles, guessing games, and an eight-second shootout.
The eight-second shootout gave the young players the chance to go one-on-one with one of Wallenpaupack’s talented varsity goalies. They had eight seconds to score a goal and put the ball in the cage.
With the support of the varsity players and the girls’ lacrosse team, who helped and came to support the event, Youth Night was a huge success!
Although the varsity team did not have the outcome they hoped for, falling 3-0 to Honesdale, the players still had fun and represented “The Pack” with pride.
