The National Honor Society is a club of great renowned high school students, offering opportunities for typically well-rounded students. It is an organization open to students who have a cumulative grade average of 90 or greater—an honor roll achievement that varies from school to school—and holds its members to high standards. Members must maintain a clean disciplinary record, be able to volunteer, and collect a certain amount of soda tabs each year to help support the Ronald McDonald House, a charitable cause that benefits families in need.
Students looking to apply to be a part of the Honor Society must complete a rigorous packet explaining their previous volunteer work and why they would make a great candidate. Once accepted, members must continue their volunteer work by completing at least six hours of community service within their school, six hours within their community, and four additional hours of their choice between the two. It is a program that welcomes eligible students and gives them the opportunity to make a difference in their school and community.
On Monday, October 5, Wallenpaupack will host its annual induction ceremony, welcoming the new members of the National Honor Society who have worked hard to earn their spot. The ceremony will be held in the high school auditorium and is open to all community members who wish to attend.
