The Buckhorns played hard on Thursday but came up short of the win. Going into this game the Buckhorns were coming off five straight wins, with their most recent being a huge win against West Scranton. Abington had a few wins of their own before this one. However, their most recent game was a loss to a tough Scranton Prep team thirty-five to nothing. This definitely gave the Abington Heights Comets something to prove when playing Wallenpaupack, especially because it was their Homecoming game. Usually when the Buckhorns are able to score first, they can carry that momentum on to win the game. Unfortunately, that was not the case tonight.
Abington scored on their opening drive, eighty yards in eight plays. Rob Azar scored the touchdown off a pass from Noah Kayal. The Buckhorns were able to answer quickly and score a touchdown right after tying the game. The touchdown was scored by Ed Kiesendahl as it made the score seven to seven with under two minutes left in the first quarter. The Comets were able to score another touchdown with about five minutes left in the second quarter, while on the other hand, the Buckhorns could not connect on anything. The score was fourteen to seven at half time. Abington scored again after the half-time break while the Buckhorns were scoreless for the rest of the game. Next Wallenpaupack plays Scranton Prep at home hopefully to get a win as the end of the season approaches.
