State of Education

On December 3, the State of Education Secretary, Dr. Khalid Mumin, came to Wallenpaupack for a meeting. In this meeting they discussed the future of our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The Wallenpaupack administration team requested funding from the state to build a new CTE building, as well as two satellite campuses, developed for students at Wallenpaupack and other schools in Wayne and Pike counties. This coalition would include districts such as Delaware Valley, Wayne Highlands, and Western Wayne. Having this new building would allow the schools to have more room and state-of-the-art facilities to improve their program which would allow their students to receive better opportunities. Through this plan, they will also be able to create more programs for students who want to enter a certain field such as diesel mechanics in the automotive sector.

The administration team also argued how the new facility would keep the area schools close together and allow them to share students and give the children more connections. After the meeting, Dr. Mumin toured our school and viewed the CTEs that Wallenpaupack offers, while simultaneously interacting with the students. These students were given the chance to talk about their program and why they do it. Many of the teachers who moderate these programs all agreed that for them to perform their best, they would love to have more space to teach more topics in the field.
