Softball Takes a Tough Loss against West Scranton

On April 24, the Varsity team faced West Scranton and took the loss by a score of 4-3. This was a tough loss for Paupack as West Scranton fought back just as hard throughout the game. Paupack collected eleven hits and held West Scranton to just six. Reagan Anderson, Anna Babyak, Hannah Daidone, and Madison Haynes all collected two hits over their four bats. Anna Babyak and Alexa Laing were the pitchers for this game, and Anna was able to strike out four while Alexa Laing was there to back her up striking out one.

On April 29, the Varsity team traveled to Scranton High School to take on the Knights. Paupack was able to come from behind and win by a score of 9-8. Last time Paupack faced Scranton, they run-ruled them. This game proved to be much different with Scranton coming out in the first inning and scoring three. Throughout the game Scranton was relentlessly tacking on runs and taking advantage of Paupack’s mistakes. In the top of the 7th inning, down by one run, Paupack came back and scored three. This gave them the lead, and all they had to do was hold Scranton on defense, and they did. This comeback win for Paupack was huge, and it sets them up well for their next matchup against Delaware Valley on Friday, May 1.

On April 23, the JV team faced West Scranton and dominated by a score of 13-3, therefore putting the ten-run rule in effect after just five innings. Grace Sterner was a force to be reckoned with on the mound as she pitched all five innings with no relief and collected six strikeouts. Lindsay Hitchcock was a standout on offense collecting four hits in her four at-bats.
