Wallenpaupack’s High School Band will be performing their spring concert on May 19 in the high school Auditorium. The concert begins at 7 pm and is free for the public to attend.
Two groups will be featured at this year’s concert under the direction of Mr. Warner. The Wallenpaupack Wind Ensemble is an auditioned group that rehearses primarily on Thursday evenings. The wind ensemble performs a variety of challenging music and requires individual talent, with only a few students on each part. The wind ensemble will be accompanying two senior soloists, Bradley Miehle and Hunter Sasala, who have earned this recognition for their achievements at PMEA (Pennsylvania Music Educators’ Association) competitions. The group will also perform a piece written by senior Winifred Morrison. This year’s wind ensemble program features classic wind ensemble pieces, orchestral transcriptions, and arrangements of songs you might have heard on TV. With such a diverse program, there is something everyone can enjoy.
The concert band, consisting of the students who take part in the band course during school, will be performing a wide range of music. With several songs inspired by dance forms, the program will have you moving in your seat. The group will be performing Infinite Possibilities and Blue Ridge Reel, which they had the opportunity to work with a guest clinician in April. Brayden Hoffmann will be featured on a trumpet solo piece with accompaniment, recognizing his placement in the PMEA All-State Wind Ensemble last month. Mr. Kozich, our middle school band director, will be conducting The Great Rubber Chicken Gallop, which will feature, as you may guess, a lot of rubber chickens. Ranging from emotional pieces, student features, comical compositions, and songs that will make you dance, this performance will surely captivate audiences.
Wallenpaupack’s performing arts students offer several performances throughout the school year and appreciate the support of their families, friends, and community members. When you support these students, you are not only supporting their performance as musicians but also encouraging their continued efforts towards perseverance, academic engagement, and teamwork.
