Buckhorns Tough Loss on Homecoming Night 35-0

By: Mason Zoccola

The Buckhorns played the exceptionally talented Scranton Prep Cavaliers on Homecoming night, but they were not able to secure the win. Going into this game, Wallenpaupack had just lost to Abington. The game was close then got out of hand quickly, and Abington won 21-7. Prior to that game, the Buckhorns were on a five-game winning streak, hoping to secure another win on their homecoming night. Scranton Prep played North Pocono in their last game before this one, which was a very close game. Scranton Prep won only by one point in overtime. Surprisingly, there were no points scored in the first quarter of this game, as the Buckhorns were doing a good job at holding back the Prep offense. In the second quarter with just under nine minutes left, the first points were scored by Scranton Prep with a touchdown from Braedon McPartland. The Cavaliers scored another touchdown before the second half, but they missed the extra point. This gave them a thirteen-to-notch lead at halftime. This lead made it very hard for the Buckhorns to come back from going into the second half. In the third quarter the buckhorns were forced to punt from their own end zone, but it was blocked and recovered by Prep. This gave them another touchdown and a twenty to nothing lead. The Cavaliers scored one more touchdown at the end of the third quarter, and in the fourth another was scored by Owen Jeffers. They completed a two-point conversion, and Wallenpaupack remained scoreless at the end of this one. This game was not a great performance from the Buckhorns, but hopefully they can win their next game against North Pocono.
