The Paupack Press is highlighting the student leaders behind the Wallenpaupack’s Color Guard team. This week we’re introducing Isabella Behran. This year is Isabella’s first season as color guard captain. She has performed with flags, doubles, rifle, saber, and ribbons during her time with the guard. Her past roles with the group have included being a social media and spirit coordinator. She says she wanted to be a color guard captain because, “I love color guard and every year my love for it grows more. I always look to improve my skills and help others do the same, so deciding to audition was easy.”

She says that color guard captains are important because they serve as someone everyone can trust to be a friend, provide constructive feedback, and cheer you on. Isabella wants everyone to know that color guard is a great way to find a close, family-like community. A lesson she learned this season is, “Despite being a leader, you still need to take help from others around you and give yourself grace when you aren’t perfect.” Isabella is also a member of concert choir, the WAHS Players, and Local History Club. She plans to go to college for secondary education and study musical theater or the performing arts.
