Johnathan Longhenry, a senior at Wallenpaupack, is best known for his energetic personality and stubborn determination. Outside of school, he enjoys spending his time building and working on his truck, as well as hunting and fishing whenever he can. These hobbies allow him to unwind while also expressing his creativity and mechanical skill, something that’s been a big part of his life throughout high school.
Throughout his years at Wallenpaupack, Johnathan was heavily involved in athletics. He played baseball for five years before deciding not to continue his senior year, and he also played football for four years until tearing his ACL
Johnathan’s passion for mechanics was sparked by his experiences in the school’s CTE program for automotive technology, as well as by the support of his parents. His teachers, including Mr. Bailey and former automotive technology instructor Doc Watson, have had a major influence on his learning and career path. With their guidance, Johnathan developed both technical skills and confidence to pursue his dream of becoming a diesel technician.
Among his proudest accomplishments are winning the People’s Choice Award at a Tommy Gun car show and earning fifth place in a painting competition held at the Career Technology Center of Lackawanna County. Both achievements reflect his dedication to his craft and his ability to stand out among his peers in the automotive field.
Looking ahead, Johnathan plans to attend Pennsylvania College of Technology, where he has already been accepted. He will pursue an associate degree and certification in diesel technology, continuing to build on the foundation he’s created through his high school experience. His ultimate goal is to secure a good job as a diesel technician, start a family, and live a fulfilling, steady life doing what he loves. As he prepares to graduate, Johnathan hopes to be remembered as someone who brought energy, determination, and a strong work ethic to everything he did.
