On Tuesday, September 29th the Wallenpaupack Girls Tennis team held their senior night. They played against West Scranton and won an overall score of 4-1. All 6 seniors (Emily Jensen, Laila Golshirazi, Olivia Kogan, Alexis Lopez-Torres, Kiana Madrigal, and Alexandra Spritzler) had the opportunity to play varsity for their last game of the season. The team enjoyed an assortment of treats and snacks after the game, followed by seniors receiving gifts and speeches from the underclassmen. Congratulations to all the seniors and thank you to all the coaches and administrators who made the night possible.
On Thursday, October 1st, the Wallenpaupack Girls tennis team played a district quarterfinal match against Berwick Girls Tennis team at Berwick. As the sixth seed, the Wallenpaupack team upset the third seed, Berwick 3-0: 1st singles, 2nd singles, and 2nd doubles won their games, which secured the overall win for Paupack. Adelyn Ezzo won the first match of the day, playing with a score of 6-0 6-0 at second singles, followed by Olivia Kogan with a 6-1 6-4 score at first singles. The match was decided by Maya Hirzallah and Kiana Madrigal with an overall score of 7-6 (8-6 tiebreaker) 6-2 playing in second doubles. 1st doubles (Jenna Petroski and Alexandra Spritzler) were in the lead 5-4 when the match was decided and play was halted.
