This week, the freshman science classes went on a trip to learn about Lake Wallenpaupack. This two-day event taught the students about the ecology of the lake and the surrounding watershed area. They toured the Wallenpaupack Dam and received a tour of the work completed by the Lake Wallenpaupack Watershed Management District from Mr. Nick Spinelli. The students also took samples of the lake water and measured its pH and clarity, observed organisms under a microscope, and captured and studied different invertebrates. This trip taught the students the origin of the lake, the importance of the lake to our area, and how to protect this beloved waterway for years and years to come.
